A delivery of food is often times the first step to opening a relationship with a family in need. Church volunteers do much more than just provide food to struggling families, they extend help and hope beyond what is visible.
When members of the local church in Tirana first met Jehona, she was begging for food on the streets with her son while her husband collected cans to sell. The church took this opportunity to not only provide her family with food, diapers, and toys but to also share with her about the sewing ministry at the church. Jehona was excited for the chance to learn a skill that would help provide a better life for her family.
Members of the church were welcomed by Jehona’s husband as well as other members of his family, and they were able to share with the family about the message of hope in Jesus. One church member had the opportunity to pray for Jehona. Since then, the young mother has become friends with several members of the church community.
In addition to welcoming church members into her home during Food Pak deliveries, Jehona has started coming to church and even joined a Bible study. She is learning some new skills through the sewing ministry and is excited to contribute to her family’s income. Jehona has begun inviting other women living in her community in similar situations to join her at the church.
We praise God for local churches eager to make a difference in their communities and faithful supporters who make these ministries possible.
